Line Cook
Description
As a Line Cook at Collective Arts Toronto, you’ll play an essential role in bringing our taproom experience to life through great food, creativity, and consistency. You’ll work closely with our food team and Acting Spaces Lead to execute a menu of vibrant, flavourful dishes inspired by Mexican street food. You’ll thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment where quality, speed, and teamwork all come together to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
A typical day as a Line Cook includes:
- Prepare and execute a variety of grilled, fried, and cold menu items such as tacos, tostadas, bar snacks, and daily specials.
- Ensure food quality and presentation meet Collective Arts’ standards with every plate leaving the kitchen.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness throughout service, including dishwashing, sanitizing surfaces, and closing duties.
- Support inventory management, food storage, and daily prep lists in coordination with the back of house team
- Operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, and ovens safely and efficiently.
- Assist in running plates, food expo, and coordinating orders during busy periods.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen culture where creativity, respect, and communication come first.
How your time will be organized:
- Food Preparation & Service (60%): Cooking, plating, and executing dishes during service with attention to quality and consistency.
- Prep & Inventory (20%): Preparing ingredients, managing mise en place, and assisting with stock rotation and storage.
- Cleaning & Maintenance (20%): Maintaining cleanliness standards, dishwashing, and ensuring all equipment and stations are ready for service.
We’re looking for candidates who have/are:
- 1–2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
- Food Handler or Food Safety certification is an asset.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, including grills, fryers, and ovens.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, stand for long periods, and handle the physical demands of the kitchen environment.
